he house, which is on three levels, has been sympathetically restored by local craftsmen and provides more than 115m² of living space.

arge fully fitted kitchen/dining room with modern Italian quality units, including Bosch cooker, microwave and dishwasher. There is also a utility room with washing machine and tumble drier.

Ground Floor
arge sitting room with wood burning stove, DVD/TV and music centre. A small library of English/French DVD's, games for all ages and books are provided with full information on the region. On this floor there is also a double bedroom with en-suite shower room and a separate WC.

Garden
he gîte is set in its own grounds of an acre. At the front there is a large grassed area suitable for ball games, and parking for 2 or more cars. The rear garden is lawned with patios and terraces - suitable for eating 'al fresco' and enjoying the private heated swimming pool.

e Village du Bois is a tiny community of four dwellings: the proprietors home, the gîte, a small cottage and a farm. It is situated 1½ km from the village of St Pierre de Maillé with its bars, restaurant and shop.

     
 
 
ohn and Heather Silcox first visited this area for a holiday in 1996. The following year they left England and now live permanently in "Le Village du Bois" with their two younger children, a horse, donkey, lamb, chickens, ducks, two cats and a dog. Speaking both French and German they are on hand for advice and to pass on their local knowledge.
     
   

he gite is the ideal base from which to discover the charm and beauty of this area of unknown France. The World Heritage site of St Savin Abbey, with its 12th Century frescoes (the oldest in Europe) is just 10 minutes drive away, as is La Roche Posay - home to famous thermal springs, beauty treatments, golf, horse racing, casino, cinema, colourful markets, and charming medieval quarter.

ust 5 minutes by car will bring you to Angles sur l'Anglin, one of the most beautiful villages in France; 15 minutes to the west is the medieval market town of Chauvigny and within 40 minutes is the regional capital and ancient cathedral city of Poitiers, with its famous Parc de Futuroscope. The Brénne natural park (the land of a thousand lakes) is on the doorstep.

he wildlife in this tranquil area is abundant and rewards the walker or cyclist with sightings of red squirrels, hoopoes, buzzards and wild boar.

Upon receipt of your reservation request we will contact you to advise price and availability.

To confirm your reservation we require a downpayment equivalent to 25% of the cost of your stay.

The balance is required 1 month prior to the start of your stay.

A damage deposit cheque is payable upon your arrival.
