Beaches near Le Vilage du Bois
Le Village du Bois is in a part of France that enjoys an abundance of stunning, sandy beaches, often backed by large sand dunes planted with mature pine forests which date from the 19th century. Most have been awarded a blue flag.
La Plage du Veillon
La Plage du Veillon – just a 5-minute drive from Le Village du Bois – is regularly voted one of the best places to visit in the Vendée. Approximately 1.5 kilometres long, this highly attractive beach is part of a coastline featuring stretches of low cliffs with beautiful sandy beaches and small coves. The dunes are the highest in the area and the shelter they afford has allowed a lagoon to form inside the estuary.
This natural beauty is complemented with a host of facilities to enhance your (safe) enjoyment of the area.

A straightforward walk over the marshes or around the dunes will bring you to the estuary of the Payre River and the Port de la Guittière, which is the centre for oysters produced in the river estuary.
Port Bourgenay
Take a short cliff-top walk, with superb views, from Plage du Veillon and you’ll reach Port Bourgenay, an attractive and recently upgraded marina with cafes, restaurant and bars.
Other beaches
There are numerous other beaches within easy reach including the famous La Tanchet surfing sport at the south of the Grand Baie at Les Sables d’Olonne.
